Public debate: Media and Terrorism

Public debate: Media and Terrorism
Mediacentar Sarajevo invites you to the public debate
MEDIA and TERRORISM
Friday, September 11th at 6.00 pm
Eight years after the attack on World Trade Center in New York ‘fight against terrorism’ had enormous effect on media and understanding of freedom of information and expression. On the other hand, media have also influenced creation of a new public discourse on terrorism and perception of ‘other’ in that context.
How do we define terrorism today? How media report on terrorism? What are the professional experiences of working on this subject in Bosnia and Herzegovina, what are the dilemmas, challenges and obstacles? How the reporting on terrorism did effect the Islamic movements and Muslim community in BH and the world?
We invite you to discuss these, and many other issues with our guests – Vlado Azinović, professor at the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo; Esad Hećimović, reporter of the Magazine BH DANI; and Muhamed Jusić, Islamic theologian, essayist and translator.
The public debate will be held in Mediacenter, Kolodvorska 3, in Friday, September 11th at 6.00 pm. For more information, please contact us via e mail address boba@media.ba, or telephone 033.715.840. or check out our web page www.media.ba.
