Against Radicalization and Violent Extremism in the Bosnian and Herzegovinian Public Space

2018
The project "Against Radicalization and Violent Extremism in the Bosnian and Herzegovinian Public Space" will address the dangers of further polarization, radicalization and potential violent extremism among young people in BiH by strengthening their media and information literacy (MIL) skills, as a crucial but missing element for developing critical understanding of propaganda, dangerous ethno-national and radical media narratives, and for an active engagement against it.

The first goal of the project is to explore the ways the young people use and produce media content, how they understand problematic, polarising and extremist media content, and how and why they engage in its perpetuation or subversion. After the research, Foundation Mediacentar, in cooperation with partners on the project, will develop and implement an informed educational program through youth camps across the country in order to enable young people to not only resist such media content, but also to contribute to positive communication practices.
