‘Caricature and Movement’

‘Caricature and Movement’
'Before drawing, always comes understanding. Our hands do not draw what we see, but what our thoughts tell them to draw. Thoughts, though can point out to the things that we understand. Therefore, drawing is not just presentation of the things we see, but what and how we percept these things. Information received through our organs our mind translates into abstract codes. If it was any different, language and letter would not exist.'
Midhat Ajanovic novel ‘Caricature and Movement’ (published by Hrvatski filmski savez, Zagreb) gives exiting overview of the most important styles, works and authors in the history of animation and caricature. Starting from this point, we will discuss with the author on the position and faith of the press caricature in the modern media world. Is press caricature dying or is it getting some new forms? What (was) is its basic function? Did press caricature, and how, contributed to the fight for freedom of expression in the media? When and how it was (miss) used?
Beside Midhat Ajanovic, participants at the discussion are Asaf Dzanic, film theorist, and Boro Kontic, Director of Mediacenter Sarajevo. The discussion will be followed by the projection of animated movies, selected by our guest!
